The Contractor shall perform string trimming (weed-eating) around or under fixed objects, including but not limited to guardrail, signs, bridges, barriers and slopes on primary and secondary roads as directed by Engineer. The intent of this contract is for the Contractor to perform three (3) cycles of string trimming on interstate routes and two (2) cycles on primary and secondary roads, however the Engineer may increase or decrease the number of cycles as needed. Vegetation shall be removed from edge of pavement up to and around guardrail when shoulder is 4’ or less and 1’ past the toe of existing slope and other areas as directed by the Engineer. Operators shall wear an ANSI compliant Class III safety vest, closed-toe shoes, shirts with sleeves and long pants while performing the work covered by this contract. This is an as needed contract. The Contractor will be notified when and where to work. No payment will be made by the Department for any work performed outside of the designated areas.
