The Contractor shall install erosion control devices as necessary to prevent material from leaving the project site prior to beginning any work that would disturb the existing ground. Placement of erosion control devices shall be proposed by the Contractor for consideration by the Project Engineer prior to placement. A formally submitted Erosion Control Plan is not required under this specification but may be required at the discretion of the Project Engineer for his acceptance. 3. The Contractor shall perform clearing and grubbing operations as needed to facilitate the slope correction work to follow. Clearing and grubbing shall be limited to only the areas required to facilitate slope correction with consideration of space required to safely operate construction equipment. The areas to be cleared are to be proposed by the Contractor and determined to be acceptable by the Project Engineer prior to commencement of operations. Cost for this work is to be absorbed into other items bid. 4. The Contractor shall make repairs to a single wingwall that has detached from the barrel of the box bridge at this location, left of the centerline as shown on sheet WWR-1. The straps depicted on sheet WWR-1 shall be 8” wide strips of ½” steel plate 6’ long (field fit as necessary). The cost for this work shall be included in the bid price for pay item 907-824- PP004: Bridge Repair, Wingwall Repair. Once the straps are in place, the Contractor shall place forms on the inside and outside of the wingwall to facilitate the placement of class B structural concrete such as to prevent the loss of soil through the final repair. The Contractor shall correct the slope failure by benching and backfilling material in accordance with section 203.03.8.2 of the Red Book as well as in accordance with the dimensions shown on TS-1.
