The Offeror must have the ability to provide resident personal laundering services. Chosen vendor shall adhere to all rules, regulations and laws specific herein to the RFQ. Laundered items are resident personal laundry. All laundry must be handled and processed in accordance with CDC Guidelines for Environmental Infection Control in Health-Care Facilities, Section G, 1-7 “Laundry and Bedding” (2003), see Appendix A Prospective vendor is informed that the RIVH does not “rinse” patient personal laundry prior to placing it in the soiled laundry bags. Additionally, the following guidelines are required of the vendor: a. Vendor will pick up soiled laundry, bagged and marked with the resident’ room number by the RIVH. b. Vendor shall deliver cleaned, dry laundry to the resident(s) room using the rear loading dock at the RIVH, c. The vendor shall maintain a separate receiving area for all contaminated laundry and handle the contaminated laundry with minimal agitation to contamination of air. d. All clean and soiled laundry must be kept separate at all times. e. Estimated volume is approximately 120,000 pounds, annually. f. All laundry to be dry weighed based upon clean dry weight and actual (not standard) g. The vendor shall take care in the handling of laundered items as to not commingle articles and preserve their separation and organization. h. The vendor must be able to handle washing and separating clothing for skin sensitive residents with free/clear detergents and softeners, when applicable. i. Vendor must provide a receipt to the RIVH Business Office documenting the weight by room and number of laundry bags. j. Vendor is to furnish: Cleaning formulas, washing temperatures, and finishing techniques for approval by the RIVH Infection Control Nurse. Use of proper temperature, detergent and laundry additives per CDC guidelines needs to be strictly adhered to. All equipment and products necessary for the resident laundry services shall be the responsibility of the vendor. k. Washing formulas (subject to change based on Department of Health regulations) include: - Bactericidal / Antimicrobial action; - Diiodide of a water activated Malodor Control Concentrate, plus Fabric Softener - 160-degree washing capabilities; - Decontamination methods; - Basis of Sodium Orthosilicate in some products to break up acids and body waste; - Refresher such as Chromium (2+) Diiodide of water-activated Malodor Control Concentrate; - Isolation, Special Treatment, Hot Water (160 degrees) for a minimum of twentyfive
