Remove the chimney from the roof down below the roof line. The attic is a walk-in so make sure to leave the existing chimney intact below the roof line with no debris left on the floor or loose brick that could be falling hazards. Making sure that there is a liner that pulls the flue gases from the basement out through the roof. Install new galvanized pipe, flashing, storm collar, and weather cap. Some framing maybe needed along with sheathing covering the old area from the existing chimney. Remove existing shingles from the roof down to the roof sheathing. Check for excessively wide gaps in the roof planking. Install that Ice and snow guard in all of the valleys and lower edges of the roof line. This must cover 2’ higher than the exterior plate line. Approved water barrier over the remain roof sheathing. Install new 2’ style D roof edging throughout. Install 35-year architectural shingles of the homeowner’s choice. Install a shingle over ridge vent following manufacture’s instruction. Allow maximum cut back of the ridge line for ventilation. Install new plumbing flashing boots, extend the plumbing vents if less the 12” on the shallow side. Patch all the turtle vent holes with approved sheathing material. Clean all the gutters out after the roof is completed. Install insulation along the box sill using R-19 kraft faced through the entire basement. They must fasten to the sides of joist pockets using staples fill the entire pockets tightly. Building permit is required before work begins.
