The Planning Board Attorney shall be an Attorney-at-Law licensed in the State of New Jersey with experience in municipal land use law and affordable housing matters. The Attorney will provide legal counsel and representation to the Planning Board and assist the Borough as required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Attending all regular and special Planning Board meetings, including routine consultation with Borough staff via phone or email. • Preparing, reviewing, and defending all litigation affecting the Planning Board or its members, arising from actions on applications or in the performance of official duties under the Municipal Land Use Law. • Providing legal advice, research, and support regarding the Borough Housing Element and Fair Share Plan, including any amendments, and assisting the Planning Board and Borough Attorneys in related litigation or mediation proceedings with courts or the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH). • Providing legal guidance on special projects or matters as requested by the Planning Board. • Drafting, reviewing, and advising on legal documents, including developer agreements, deeds, covenants, easements, and other land use-related instruments. • Representing or advising the Planning Board on any matter in which it may have a current or future interest. The Planning Board Attorney shall perform additional legal services as directed by the Planning Board, the Planning Board Secretary, or Borough Attorney, consistent with applicable laws and professional standards.
