This specification is for the purchase of two ignition ovens for determining asphalt content of bituminous mixtures by the ignition method for use by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). EQUIPMENT; 4.1. Equipment furnished must be the latest model in current production, as offered to commercial trade, and of quality workmanship and material. The vendor represents that all equipment offered will be new. Used, shopworn, demonstrator, prototype, remanufactured, or discontinued models are not acceptable. 4.2. All parts not specifically mentioned which are necessary for the unit to be complete and ready for operation or which are normally furnished as standard equipment must be furnished by the vendor. All parts must conform in strength, quality, and workmanship to the accepted standard of the industry. 4.3. The equipment must meet all applicable federal and State of Texas safety, health, lighting, and noise standards that are in effect at the time of manufacture. 4.4. Equipment must be new, current-production, and meet AASHTO T 308 and ASTM D6307 standards. 4.5. Chamber temperature range must reach at least 1,200 °F (650 °C) with automatic temperature control and over-temperature protection. 4.6. System must include an integrated balance with a minimum 10,000 g capacity and 0.1 g resolution, and heat-resistant sample baskets with a minimum 4,500 g capacity.
