The Laboratory Response Network, Bioterrorism Laboratory, hosed in the Houston Health Department Lab performs testing for Texas Region 6/5 South (17 counties). This laboratory has complex testing algorithms written by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that require specific verified kits that have been validated for the intended use and testing schemes for biothreat detection. The Qiagen QIAamp kits are the approved manual size exclusion/filtration kits approved for this high complexity testing.
