SCOPE OF WORK: • The Contractor shall execute the work described in these documents and the Technical Specifications. • The Contractor is responsible for all traffic control, signage and barriers as required by local City and County ordinances, and/or UDOT or other local entities that have jurisdiction at each individual site location at no additional cost to the Owner. • The Contractor shall procure and pay for all required permits prior to the start of work. • The Contractor is responsible to take all environmental actions as required by State and local entities pertaining to the work to be performed. • Lead concentrations in the existing coatings to be reported are solely for identification of lead containing coatings and may not be representative of lead concentrations in coatings on all areas of the structures, piping, and appurtenances to be coated. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to verify concentrations of potentially toxic constituents in existing coatings and implement the required Contractor / Owner personnel safety measures, appropriate coating removal process, containment dust suppression, and waste handling, storage, testing, transportation, and disposal procedures. • The Contractor is fully responsible for all costs associated with monitoring, personnel protection, containment, coating removal, and disposal of coatings and associated debris regardless of metal concentrations in the coating and associated waste. • All existing coatings and waste/debris generated from the removal of existing lead containing coatings and non-lead coatings, shall be treated as a hazardous material or hazardous waste until Contractor performed laboratory analysis of waste indicates the waste is non-hazardous. All laboratory analysis is subject to verification and review by Owner and their representative prior to removal of any waste from the project site. • All non-hazardous waste shall be disposed at a solid waste facility in accordance with local, State, and Federal regulations. The Contractor shall notify the Owner or their representative when non-hazardous wastes are removed from the project site and provide waste disposal tickets identifying the quantity and type of waste disposal, location of disposal facility, and disposal facility contact information. • The Contractor shall follow a written Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant confined space program, and other applicable programs, to ensure all safety measures are taken to protect public safety and the safety of workers at each site. • All electrical panels, control boxes, vent fans, sump pumps, electric motors, and other electrical equipment must be protected from blasting grit and dust, paint stripper/remover (if used), or any other contaminant used within the confined space or site. Such equipment shall be covered with tarps, plastic or other means of protection and secured to hold protective coverings in place. • All information tags, site glass indicators, etc., shall be protected on all valves, fittings, and associated equipment and materials so the information remains clean from blasting grit damage, paint stripper/remover (if used) and paint.
