1. Review plan sets prior to construction and become familiar with the anticipated work. 2. Attend preconstruction meetings scheduled by the City. 3. Provide construction project inspections to ensure conformance with City specifications, standards, and policies (including grading, storm and sanitary sewers, street construction, and related work). 4. Conduct on-site observations to verify work conforms to Construction Documents. 5. Alert contractors of non-conforming work. 6. Address day-to-day issues arising during construction. 7. Perform or coordinate necessary materials testing (e.g., nuclear density, asphalt, and concrete). 8. Maintain project documentation, including daily inspection reports, submitted within 24 hours of each event. 9. Maintain communication with City staff regarding project progress and issues. 10. Report unsatisfactory or defective work and recommend corrective actions. 11. Verify compliance testing is properly conducted and documented. 12. Notify contractors of work or materials failing to meet specifications. 13. Reject non-compliant materials and work as determined by the City or consultant. 14. Provide advice or suggestions as construction issues arise. 15. Review contractor pay applications for accuracy, sign after acceptance. 16. Respond professionally to citizen complaints and inquiries. 17. Perform other duties as assigned. 18. Manage time accurately; inspectors may be assigned 3–4 projects concurrently. 19. Respond to SeeClickFix or other public reports as directed. 20. Follow up on permits as directed by the City. 21. Provide inspectors with applicable KDOT CIT certifications for State/Federally funded projects, as required. (Not required for 100% locally funded projects.)
