The City of Cedar Rapids seeks well qualified, experienced conservation professionals or firms to provide restoration services for a roughly 60-foot iconic outdoor sculpture, the Tree of Five Seasons. The sculpture is located at 1st Ave. E and 1st Street NE in downtown Cedar Rapids, IA. The goal is to ensure the long-term preservation, structural integrity and aesthetic quality of the sculpture while protecting it from environment and human-caused damage. Restoration shall include, but is not limited to, the following treatments from the August 2025 Conservation Report (See Attachment): •Remediation of the circular welded plates near the top •Cleanup and restoration of the newly exposed base, including removal of old adhesive and caulking and sanding off old welds by experienced stainless-steel welder •General resurfacing and refinishing across sculpture, including finish coats of Polyurethane Primer 30-50 microns dry, Polyurethan Gloss Finish at 1000-microns dry •Removal of old bird deterrent and re-application of new bird deterrent
