Sam Jackson Pump Station is located in the southwest hills of Portland. The MCCs and electrical service equipment is over 40 years old and spare parts are difficult to obtain. Updating the equipment now will be a proactive measure to reduce risk of electric failures and improve operational efficiency while providing flexibility as well. There is an existing MCC operating at 2,400V, feeding four pump motors, each at 350HP. This project will: • Replace the existing MCC with a new MCC feeding all four pump motors; • Evaluate the existing utility service and design a new distribution system fed from new, utility approved service entrance equipment. Replace transformer, meter, and primary side utility service disconnect switch; • Review the existing 480V “service” and provide recommendation on maintaining or replacing with dry type 2400V – 480V transformer. • Replace remote transmittal unit and provide new SCADA communications; • Replace transformer, meter, and primary side utility service disconnect switch; o Current disconnect switch has a broken component and can’t be operated without requesting a PGE shutdown to the utility service. • Replace electrical house panel and upgrade pump station interior lighting; • And add concrete curbs to transformer concrete pad.
