The Design-Build Team, through the Design-Builder under contract with GDOT, will provide the Design-Build services to widen a 32.5-mile stretch of Interstate 16 between Interstate 95 and State Route 67 in southeast Georgia to improve aging pavement conditions and manage increasing traffic volumes. The corridor runs through Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, and Effingham counties. The planned improvements include expanding I-16 from two to three lanes in both directions by constructing new 12-foot travel lanes within the existing median. Existing lanes will be shifted toward the median, and wider shoulders will be reconstructed adjacent to the relocated lanes. Six (6) bridges will be replaced with widening at various locations. It is anticipated that the Apparent Successful Proposer will, as Design-Builder, design and construct the Project for a lump sum price, payable in accordance with progress based upon an agreed schedule and agreed schedule of values, under the terms, and subject to the conditions, within the Design-Build Agreement.
