The Contractor will be responsible for providing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for the McCormick Place Campus. IPM is defined as a science-based approach to pest control that aims to minimize pest damage while protecting human health, the environment, and economic interests. It involves using a combination of methods, including: • Prevention: Identifying and eliminating conditions that favor pest infestations. • Monitoring: Regularly checking for pest populations and damage. • Biological control: Using natural enemies, such as predators, parasites, and diseases, to control pests. • Cultural control: Modifying planting practices, sanitation, and habitat management. • Chemical control: Using pesticides as a last resort, when other methods are ineffective or impractical. The Services include, but are not limited to, furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and supplies necessary to monitor, control and exterminate: rodents, raccoons, fox, opossum, ants, fruit and drain flies, birds, fowl, bird nests, water bugs, silverfish, flies, bats, bedbugs, spiders, cockroaches, millipedes, centipedes, ground beetles, bees, wasps nests and other pests. The pest control services shall be for both the interior and exterior locations of the McCormick Place Campus as described in Section 2.2 and as shown in Exhibit 1. The Selected Contractor shall maintain, during the term of the contract, an environment that is reasonably free of pests. MPEA will not pay for any additional equipment or supplies necessary for the Contractor to successfully perform the required services, as outlined herein. The Contractor shall formulate a plan that will provide necessary pest control Services for the McCormick Place Campus in accordance with the best practices, procedures and techniques of the Pest Control Industry. The Material or Services furnished shall be performed with the degree of skill, care and diligence normally shown by a pest control contractor providing services/material of comparable scope, purpose and magnitude. Materials furnished shall be free from defects in materials or workmanship. Additionally, the Contractor must provide detailed site-specific recommendations for structural and procedural modifications necessary to achieve target pest control, prevention and mitigation. The Contractor must be available to provide pest control services seven (7) days a week and, at the direction of MPEA, twenty-four (24) hours a day if circumstances require. Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority does not pay for travel time or overtime. Based on show / event schedules, the hours of operation and number of personnel will vary but, at a minimum, require staffing 7 days a week from 6 am until 6 pm. McCormick Place requires a minimum of three (3) full-time staff members to service the Campus. Based on show size and requirements, Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority may require additional personnel approximately twenty-five days per year, subject to change based on show schedule. The one additional person shall be provided to Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority at no additional charge. Contractor shall advise if the scope of services could be performed with more or less staffing than is set forth herein.
