The South Carolina Department of Transportation SCDOT) is soliciting bids for Salt Brine Sprayers. Equipment must meet the specifications herein. 1. DESCRIPTION: The sprayer system shall be designed to apply a 40 gallons per lane-mile of liquid sodium chloride or combination of sodium and calcium chloride mixture to 1-3 lanes of pavement at speeds from 0 – 40 miles per hour. The unit will be a complete skid mounted, microprocessor controlled, 3-lane application spray system with ground speed feedback. A GPS unit shall be supplied with the system for ground speed integration. Units supplied to this specification shall meet or exceed these requirements. 2. GENERAL: Each unit shall be new, made from new components, and of the latest design of a model in current production or an update of an existing model. Each unit shall be furnished with identical equipment, options and features. It shall be furnished completely assembled, fully serviced, and ready for immediate operation. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids proposing to furnish equipment, which, in the opinion of the Department's engineers and/or staff, is not satisfactory for the Department's use in the proposed application. 3. TEMPERATURE: Units shall be designed to be operated and stored in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Fahrenheit to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Units shall be self-supporting, and structure, seals, and components shall not fail when unit is empty, partially full, or full within these temperatures (excepting damage resulting from freezing water or brine solution). The frame system shall be designed to support an empty system when not in use. 4. LIQUID TANK: Tank shall be designed for liquids with a specific gravity of 1.7 minimum and have a capacity of 925 gallons. 4.1.It shall be constructed of molded, seamless, UV protected polyethylene and be elliptically shaped. The tank shall be baffled with QTY (30) Surgebuster brand tank baffles. 4.2. The tank shall include a 16” manway with removable lid for easy access inside of tank. 4.3.
