Core responsibilities include: • Coordinating with the Somerset County Health Department and Department of Human Services. • Developing and overseeing the fatality review process, including an executive committee. • Collecting and analyzing demographic, medical, legal, and social data on fatalities. • Creating confidential reporting systems and producing clear data reports and visualizations. • Building collaborative relationships with stakeholders (e.g., Prosecutor’s Office, Sheriff, Jail, Medical Examiner, hospitals, schools, treatment providers, recovery programs). • Facilitating regular case review meetings (monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly). • Producing quarterly and annual reports with findings and recommendations. • Recommending changes to policies, programs, and laws to reduce overdose deaths. • Exploring next-of-kin interviews to better understand family and community impacts.
