The prompt removal of snow/ice is mandatory to allow for normal operations to proceed in accordance with the current weather conditions as well as short term and long term forecasts. Should the Regional School District #16 close, delay opening, or have early dismissal during a winter storm, driveways and parking lots must be kept clear and safe from snow/ice to accommodate for the arrival/departure of staff, students, and visitors. For this reason it is expected that the snow/ice will be removed and maintained throughout the duration of any storm events to allow safe operations to occur. In any instance, coordination with the Director of Facilities and Head Custodians is imperative. To ensure all driveways and parking lots of listed buildings for the Regional School District #16 are made accessible either during or following seasonal inclement weather, the vendor/firm will have snow/ice removed and treated to prevent slippery or re-freeze conditions by 6:00am for all locations. The Regional School District #16 has normal business operations seven (7) days a week during the winter months for school buildings used for sports and activities. Snow/Ice removal times must meet the needs of the Regional School District #16 and the sports/activities schedule and may be adjusted by the Director of Facilities or designee. The Regional School District #16 Director of Facilities will notify vendors/firms of any delayed openings, early dismissals, and closings.
