Specific tasks include: • Reviewing project concepts, aligning them with NSF CAREER (or equivalent junior faculty award) program expectations • Assisting and supporting faculty articulate compelling broader impacts and educational plans • Providing detailed constructive feedback on draft documents, including, but not limited to, project summaries, project descriptions, and mentoring statements The consultant must demonstrate a proven track record of success in supporting NSF CAREER submissions, either through direct authorship, coaching, or institutional consulting, and possess deep familiarity with NSF review criteria, panel dynamics, and the unique expectations for CAREER awards. Strong English writing, technical communication, and mentorship skills are essential. Deliverables will include: • Individualized consultations with participating faculty • Written reviews of proposal drafts at key stages of development. • Summary reports of common strengths and areas for improvement across the cohort The consultant is expected to work closely with the VCEA Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies to ensure consistency with WSU’s internal proposal development processes and timelines. Consultants are also required to collect VCEA mock panel reviews and work with the PI to implement them.
