Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) is seeking bids for the hauling and disposal of grit-entrained primary sludge. All services must comply with applicable Federal, State, County, and Local regulations concerning the transportation and disposal of biosolids. During high-flow events, ACUA experiences an increased volume of grit entering the wastewater treatment facility. To prevent damage to downstream dewatering equipment, primary sludge containing excess grit is stored in an offline tank. Once grit levels subside, the tank contents are allowed to settle and are subsequently decanted. The remaining grit/sludge slurry is removed by vacuum truck and stored in 25 cubic yard roll-off vacuum containers (“Vac Cans”), which are owned by ACUA. Additional rental containers may be utilized during heavy cleanouts.
