The work involves installing underground conduit and streetlighting in various locations throughout the City of Garden City. Conduit is normally installed in the range of 24”- 60” deep per project specifications. There may be instances where the conduit is installed at a greater depth. Street Lighting poles or bases are installed by power installation machinery by digging the required hole size and depth, or by the screw-in base, per project specifications. All wiring, streetlight fixture installation, and handling of street lighting material instructions will be provided to the Contractor by City Electric Department-designated employees. Exposure to energized electrical infrastructure will be kept to a minimum for Contractor’s Employees by City Electric Department Personnel. All Contractors and Employees involved with the construction are required to attend a formal one-time yearly safety training by the City Electric Department before work commences. The contractor is responsible for all Employee PPE. The contractor is responsible for all OneCall location requests and follows proper spotting of buried infrastructure. Please include existing underground utility exposure in the per-unit bid to offset that exposure cost. All Rights-of-Way are to be returned to their original or better condition as they were before the work started, as referenced in the City of Garden City Excavation Standards Handbook for restoration.
