The Farrier must have a minimum of five years professional experience in proper trimming techniques, and the sizing, shaping, and application of various types of shoes, so as not to cause harm to the horse/pony. The Farrier must submit resume and references. The Farrier must be able to recognize soundness issues related to the horse’s foot (i.e. abscesses, thrush, corns, contracted heels, Navicular, etc.) and their treatment as related to shoeing, trimming, and foot care. The Farrier must have his/her own equipment to perform the necessary services, and must be able to supply the various types of shoes, pads, and other supplies required for proper hot shoeing. The Farrier must be available a minimum of two weekday mornings per week for routine shoeing, trimming, and hoof care. It is necessary that work be started no earlier than 8am and completed no later than 3pm to coordinate with the Stable’s schedule. Farrier services cannot be provided on Saturday, Sunday, or closed Holidays unless there is an emergency as defined by the Stable.
