The Peoria Park District is seeking bids from providers of high-quality hay and straw to provide bales as specified below for the Peoria Zoo. Orders shall be delivered to the Peoria Zoo at 2510 N. Prospect Rd. Deliveries may be ordered in 4-5 loads as coordinated by the Zoo staff. Vendor is responsible for the unloading and stacking of bales in the designated areas. Prices bid shall be inclusive of all costs. The Zoo will require a cultivated and maintained grass hay suitable for our region and suitable for livestock/exotic consumption. The Zoo also requires pure alfalfa hay and straw. Mixed bales will not be accepted (no alfalfa/grass hay combinations). The following specifications must be met: • 2,000 bales of grass hay – minimum of 45 lbs per bale ▪ vendor to identify the mix of grasses on the bid form • 1,000 bales of alfalfa – minimum of 55 lbs per bale • 100 bales of straw • Second cutting • Mold free • Twine tied • No debris or bugs • Bales to be in bundles of 21 bales • Delivered throughout the year at mutually convenient dates and times • Vendor is responsible for unloading and stacking bundles into the barns using the vendors equipment. • Bales that do not meet the specifications will be rejected • The Peoria Park District reserves the right to choose the product that best meets the needs of the Zoo.
