This project represents the most extensive phase of the Hospital Galveston renovation, supported by a joint investment from the TDCJ and UTMB. Due to its scale, complexity, and urgency, UTMB will utilize the Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) delivery method to expedite implementation. Upon funding approval, UTMB will initiate rapid selection of an architectural and engineering (A/E) team and a CMR partner. The modernization scope focuses on enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and clinical capacity across the facility. Anticipated budget is $35,000,000. Requirements • NDAs are required prior to the release of building drawings. • TDCJ Access (If awarded job, all Contractors will have to submit documentation for background checks and attend an orientation safety class) • On top of weekly OAC meetings, a monthly mandatory in-person meeting will be held with the primary project team members from the Owner, TDCJ, AE, and Contractor throughout the project duration. Tentatively planned to be held in the afternoon on the third Wednesday of each month. • All contractors on-site will be required to be escorted to the locations of work, and contractors cannot freely roam throughout the building.
