The purpose of this solicitation is to continue the State’s support for local accelerator and small business training programs (BUSINESS PROGRAMS) as a catalyst for economic development, to develop new companies within industry sectors that are aligned with priority areas (Section 2.2). This opportunity aims to support programs that demonstrate potential to contribute to the growth and diversification of Hawaii’s economy. These BUSINESS PROGRAMS play a crucial role providing basic and high level business management training, mentorship, venture capital network opportunities, seed capital and funding for Hawaii start-up companies. This can include training to expand globally for more established consumer packaged goods companies and other manufactures and small businesses. Without these Hawaii based programs, many promising local companies may continue to seek opportunities outside of the state. These various Business Programs can also attract promising companies to Hawaii to exchange ideas, networks, and in some cases to relocate permanently to the State.
