This document is a Request for Information (RFI) to gather information from vendors capable of supporting the IBM Mainframe at NYS ITS. The goal is to explore a range of solutions that can effectively host, manage, and modernize our mainframe environment, shifting from a capital expense (CapEx) model to an operating expense (OpEx) model. The NYS ITS, Chief Technology Office/Data Center Services is seeking to understand current industry capabilities and best practices to address challenges associated with on-premises mainframe ownership, including rising costs, aging infrastructure, and the need for specialized personnel. This RFI is for planning and informational purposes only and does not constitute a commitment to a future procurement. We are exploring a managed service model to reduce operational overhead, control costs, and improve flexibility and disaster recovery capabilities.
