The St. Johns River Water Management District is continuing mechanical aquatic vegetation management control strategies within the Orange Creek Restoration Area, South Tract in Citra, FL. This project addresses the control of invasive and nuisance aquatic plant species that impede water flow, reduce habitat quality, and threaten the ecological restoration goals of the site. The primary target species for control is Cuban bulrush (Cyperus blepharoleptos, Oxycaryum cubense). A map including target zone for the performance of the work is attached (See Figure 1). Project Manager (PM) will identify focus areas within the target zone in coordination with Contractor. Contractor shall conduct aquatic vegetation shredding within designated zones of the Orange Creek Restoration Area, as directed by the Project Manager (PM). Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, fuel, and materials necessary to complete shredding operations. Work includes mobilization, coordination with District staff for site access and staging, daily communication with the Project Manager, and submission of GPS track logs for verification of completed Work. All activities must be performed in compliance with project restrictions, including hunting closures and recreation use limitations as listed below. Orange Creek Restoration Area is a public small game hunting area.
