Base Layer: Lay and compact 8 inches of gravel & sand mixture for proper drainage and stability for the installation of patio blocks over the entire 30 foot long 4-foot-wide walkway and the 1,400 square foot space patio space. 29.5. Patio Surface: Installation of pavers that are 2 3/8” affordable, durable and semi-decorative over the 30 foot long 4-foot-wide straight walkway and the 1,400 square foot patio space. 29.6. Wall Construction: Excavate perimeter to a stable footing and spread and compact gravel ensuring stability to prevent settling or shifting of the retaining wall on the west side of the 1,400 square foot patio. The base course should be set subsurface for proper drainage protecting the underlying layers from moisture and freezing. Lay and compact gravel and backfill, compact and integrate drainage for the installation of the retaining wall with Allan Block or similar product for the installation of a 2.5-foot-retaining wall that will be approximately 35’ long on the west side gradually merging to ground level on the North and South sides of the 1,400 square foot patio area. 29.7. Finishing: Cap the wall for a finished edge, spread joint sand and compact between the patio pavers and blend the sides of the retaining wall into the natural grade of the slope.
