Plant Removal: • Annuals are to be replaced twice per year during Spring and Fall. Pine straw is to be replaced twice per year during Spring and Fall. • Shrubs, ornamental grass, and trees < 4” DBH: As directed by the Owner or as needed, remove in a timely manner any plants that are severely damaged or die during the course of this contract. • Cover any open or depressed areas with growing media and/or hay as appropriate. Sod and Grassed Areas: • Backfill small areas with sand or an appropriate growing medium to allow existing grass to root through. • Cover large areas with new sod, seed mat, or seed/straw as approved by the Owner. Trash Removal and Cleanup: • Each week and prior to each mowing, remove all trash and debris, including illegal signs and posts, from all areas, including parking and driving surfaces, concrete walkways, lawns, shrub beds, other planted areas, etc. Dispose of trash items properly. • Each week, remove all litter and debris resulting from maintenance operations. • Apply additional focus on trash removal at pedestrian gathering areas or other areas where smaller trash items like cigarette butts and gum wrappers are routinely discarded. Mowing: • Grass clippings should be evenly dispersed over grass areas and not left in piles or allowed to collect on tree mulch rings or hardscape. • Avoid mowing over bare areas of soil, tree mulch rings, and bed edges. Do not allow mowing equipment to contact or otherwise damage trees or shrubs. If any damage occurs and is deemed served by the City’s Arborist, then the tree must be replaced at the contractor’s expense.
