The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners is soliciting competitive sealed bids from qualified suppliers for the Purchase of Slide Gates for the Lanier Filter Plant. Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources (GCDWR) has been experiencing issues with leaks (inability to seal off flow) and jamming (due to corrosion) of the Rodney Hunt slide gates at the PreTreatment and Ozone Facilities at Lanier Filter Plant (LFP). A gate assessment has been completed by GCDWR and the following gates which do not adequately seal have been identified for replacement: 1. Pre-Treatment Facility- Three (3) gates on the inlet from the Ozone Facility. 2. Ozone Facility - Fourteen (14) gates on the inlet channel, contactor inlets and outlets and the outlet channel. SCOPE: a. The replacement gates shall meet the design criteria and be able to be installed in the locations of the existing gates after they have been removed with minimal structural or anchor bolt modifications. b. The intention is to replace the following: 1. Three (3) slide gates and frames in the Pre-Treatment facility 2. Fourteen (14) slide gates, frames and stems in the Ozone Facility. c. The replacement gates shall be operated by the existing electrical operators. d. Drawings showing the location of the gates and the installation requirements are provided in Attachment 1. e. Equipment manufacturers shall design the gates, frames, seals, supports and stems (as applicable) to withstand the full water pressure on either side of the gate when only one side is drained. f. Equipment manufacturers shall review and confirm that the existing anchor bolts can be reused, the new stems (diameter, thread and pitch) shall be compatible with the existing actuators and existing stems can be attached to the replacement gates. g. The equipment manufacturer shall provide confirmation that the existing gate and stem support arrangements have been checked and are adequate for installation of the replacement gates and can be operated using the existing electrical operators without having to move them. h. Replacement gates shall not exceed the allowable leakage as per AWWA C560 (CI) and C561. i. Shop drawings showing locations and details of anchor bolts are to be provided. j. Equipment manufacturers shall provide all support/bracing elements and materials necessary for the proper installation, support and performance of the gates with exception of the anchor bolts. Any new anchor bolts will be supplied and installed by the installation Contractor in accordance with the gate and anchor manufacturers requirements. k. If required, the Owner may be able to facilitate a post bid inspection to enable the manufacturer to undertake any onsite measurements necessary for the design and support of the replacement equipment prior to preparing the shop drawings. Note that access into the facility basins are considered as confined spaces and manufacturers may not be able to access the ozone facility gates. Manufacturers will be required to provide appropriate PPE for their staff. Confined space access and monitoring equipment will be provided by the Owner. l. Drawings of the facilities, existing gate locations and gates shop drawings are provided in Attachments 1, 2 and 3 to assist the equipment manufacturer in assessing the design and installation requirements of replacement gates to suit existing conditions.
