1. Intent of Specifications: Liquid ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) is for use in the treatment of potable drinking water 2. Anticipated annual amount: 3-4, 45,000 lb loads for a total of 135,000 lbs to 180,000 lbs per year 3. Liquid ammonium sulfate (LAS) shall be delivered in tank truck quantities of approximately 4,500 gallons (~45,000lbs). 4. At times OWASA may order tote containers of the product. Totes of approximately 330 gallons shall be delivered on a flatbed truck and shall be offloaded using a forklift. Totes should be designed to be moved safely with a forklift. Totes shall be ASME-approved with a pressure/vacuum relief. Totes should be pressure rated per UN standards and specifications. Pressure/vacuum relief shall have a one-inch connection for venting vapors. The tote shall have a two-inch male cam-lock with a ball valve on the bottom of the vessel to deliver the product. 5. LAS must be of high purity and made from virgin material specifically for water treatment to produce chloramines. LAS made from by-products will not be accepted. This material must not contain caprolactam. 6. Specifications shall be as follows: Formula (NH4)2SO4 Product 39-41% Ammonium Sulfate 10-10.6% Ammonia Appearance Clear to Hazy pH 4-8 Density 10.1-10.3 lbs/gallon Residue after Ignition ≤ 0.01% Water Insoluble ≤ 0.01% Iron (Fe) ≤ 100 ppm 7. The price and billing price on liquid ammonium sulfate shall be on the per dry pound basis and all billings shall be adjusted to this figure. 8. Liquid ammonium sulfate supplied under this contract shall be in accordance with American National Standards Institute/American Water Works Association standard for ammonium sulfate - liquid, ANSI/AWWA B302-16, or latest revision and shall be approved by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF-60) for use in drinking water treatment. 9. Liquid ammonium sulfate submitted for this bid shall be domestically produced from domestic raw materials, without exception. All material furnished by the successful bidder throughout the contract period shall be domestically produced from domestic raw materials, without exception.
