CARLI member libraries have a long and rich history of cooperative acquisition and sharing of library resources. With the advent and enthusiastic adoption of library resources in electronic formats, CARLI libraries are becoming increasingly concerned with the challenges associated with sharing these resources, both within the consortium and with the larger library community. Resource sharing has been a strategic priority since CARLI was formed in 2005. CARLI’s interest in providing aggregated database(s) to all members is an effort to provide member libraries with a basic set of resources for their students, faculty, and staff. Providing databases helps level the field among libraries of varying sizes, budgets, resources, and needs so students, faculty, and staff have basic resources to support teaching, research, and information needs.
