A. GIS Program Oversight & Management 1. Administer the migration of legacy applications and District Enterprise GIS data into ArcGIS Online. 2. Understand and support District GIS concerns and requirements, anticipated project duration and possible alternatives that should be considered. 3. Serve as the Forest Preserve GIS Manager for the GIS program to ensure system reliability, scalability, and alignment with organizational goals. 4. Coordinate with Forest Preserve IT to align GIS initiatives with existing infrastructure, back up standards, and data security protocols. 5. Be available for site visits within five (5) working days for non-emergency projects. 6. Be available for site visits within 24 (twenty-four) hours for emergency situations. B. Application Development and Support 1. Design, configure, and deploy new GIS applications to support both internal staff and public-facing needs. 2. Ensure functionality, usability, and integration with existing workflows. 3. Provide recommendations for future application improvements and enhancements. 4. Support the development of dashboards, web maps, and field map forms for staff and public use. 5. Provide recommendations for future application improvements and enhancements. 6. Test and validate applications prior to deployment to ensure performance, data accuracy, and user-friendliness. C. Data & Mapping Services 1. Maintain and update GIS datasets and mapping applications. 2. Support staff with spatial analyses, cartographic products, and other GIS solutions. 3. Implement metadata and data quality control standards. 4. Establish and maintain data backup, archiving, and recovery protocols within ArcGIS Online. 5. Develop and maintain spatial data in compliance with regional, state, and federal GIS standards. D. Other GIS Tasks 1. Provide technical consultation on GIS-related contracts, interagency data-sharing, and collaborative projects. 2. Research emerging GIS technologies and provide recommendations for potential adoption. 3. Deliver periodic progress reports and project updates to District staff and leadership.
