During collection, storage shall be in accordance with state regulation, specifically appendix 27:021-8, "Storage must not be of such duration that allows collected waste to become noxious odors." Contractor shall be responsible for transporting the medical waste from LSUHSC-S to the incineration site. All transportation equipment shall be permitted properly and copies of all permits be given to LSUHSC-S prior to the execution of any Contract. Contractor shall be responsible for any spills which may occur after the medical waste containers have been loaded onto the contractor's transportation equipment. Contractor shall have a contingency plan for medical waste spills. Contractor shall be responsible for proper containerization, transportation, and disposal of all spill clean-up residue in accordance with state regulations. All contractor transportation equipment operators shall be appropriately trained in driving, equipment operation, and spill procedures. Contractors shall not subcontract transportation of medical waste.
