Removal of the existing superstructures and replacement with new metallized steel beams and composite reinforced concrete decks with liquid membrane waterproofing and bituminous overlay o Superstructure is to be designed with the goal of increasing vertical clearance to 14’‐7” minimum, if possible, without affecting the vertical profile of the road Installation of new Asphaltic Plug Expansion Joint Systems Removal of the existing bearings and replacement with elastomeric bearings Substructure repairs as necessary upon an in‐depth inspection Retrofitting of existing substructure beam seats to support new superstructure A gutter flow analysis of the existing drainage features o If the gutter flow analysis reveals the existing drainage features to be substandard, then additional drainage design will be required Full depth roadway reconstruction will be required at the bridge approaches o Existing horizontal and vertical roadway alignment is to be maintained to the fullest extent possible Permanent relocation of utilities running underneath the bridges along Route 85 to be underground
