Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is seeking a vendor(s) to provide all necessary personnel, equipment, and supplies to support household battery collections in each municipality with 10,000 or more residents and every county without such municipality in the State of Illinois. The vendor(s) will provide transportation and recycling of small and medium format household batteries meeting all applicable State and Federal Regulations including IL 733.102 and 49 CFR 106, 107, 171-180 for transport, recycling, and/or disposal. The vendor(s) will provide collection drums meeting applicable State and Federal Regulations (listed above) that can safely house small and medium batteries to each facility that wishes to participate in the program. Once notified that the drum is full the vendor(s) will pick-up and recycle the collected batteries according to applicable State and Federal Regulations and requirements (listed above). Depending on funding availability the vendor will replace the collection drum with a new unit. In areas that do not wish to have a drum on site the vendor(s) will organize a 1-day collection of approved batteries. These 1-day collection events will be coordinated with Units of Local government and will occur at an agreed upon location on an agreed upon date.
