Iowa State University is requesting tamperproof tags that include a full 15-digit EID number that starts with 840. They need to include engraving for an individual 5-digit animal identifier (preferably that matches the last 5 of the EID tag), and it also needs to include a line of engraving that says “Iowa 4H”. The tags MUST meet USDA and Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship animal traceability and exhibition requirements. They will be used for 4H animals, including beef, sheep, meat goats and swine, across the state of Iowa. In addition, below are species-specific requirements per species: Beef Tags – Half-duplex (HDX) maxi-tags that measure approximately 4” high and 3” wide. Swine Tags – Full-duplex (FDX) tags that measure approximately 1.5” tall and 2.25” wide. Sheep/Meat Goat Tags – Full-duplex (FDX) tags that measure approximately 1.25” by 1.25”.
