Bidders are to furnish and deliver bulk rock salt treated with liquid magnesium chloride. Rock salt shall comply with the requirements of AASHTO M143, Type I, Grade 1 (or ASTM D632, Type I, Grade 1 equivalent). Bidders shall supply technical data sheets listing concentrations of all components in the supplied product with their bid submission. The product shall be sodium chloride (rock salt) that is: A. Pre-wet with a liquid magnesium chloride treatment. No calcium chloride shall be intentionally added. Trace/naturally occurring calcium chloride is acceptable. B. Screened, free flowing, free of excessive lumps, and free of visual evidence of foreign matter including but not limited to dirt, stone, trash, or other contaminants. C. Chemically treated to prevent caking. D. Containing a corrosion inhibitor. E. Containing a visible, non-staining coloring agent to assist in application monitoring. F. Demonstrated to be effective to at least -20 °F (-29 °C). G. Containing no more than 5.5% total moisture content, including applied liquids. 3.0 Quantities The quantities as stated are estimated quantities only. These estimates will be used to determine an award of contract. Harper College reserves the right to increase or decrease the quantities based on actual need. The College will be responsible to pay for orders requested by the College and completed by the successful bidder.
