The project involves the preparation of a watershed plan focusing on the identification and description of flood problem areas throughout the watershed and proposed projects to mitigate flood risk and flood damage in those areas, with conceptual plans and approximate cost estimates similar to the Resilient NY studies prepared by the NYSDEC. In addition, the project will include an analysis of additional flood mitigation initiatives at a variety of scales that can be performed throughout the watershed to reduce flooding and flood risk and also analyze water quality issues throughout the watershed, with similar proposed project information. The plan will include a significant public engagement component in the development of recommended strategies to address flooding and water quality issues.
