• Prepare plans and specifications for well developments in the upper Cape Fear Aquifer. We anticipate development in excess of 10 wells for Southern Cumberland County • Develop a local hydrogeological framework with maps and cross-sections and a database of northern Cumberland County. • Prepare plans and specifications for the rehabilitation of existing well locations in eastern Cumberland County. • Project management and contract administration, data collection/review published documents, and contact well drilling contractors. • Report preparation and presentation(s). • Provide a detailed scope of work for each item description in addition to a unit price. • Review the geophysical logs collected by the drilling contractor, and select the appropriate depths for screen placement, gravel-pack interval, and grouting for each well. Develop well construction details to the County and the Well Contractor. • Provide field inspection/observation of contractor services during well installation to verify that the materials used and depths of installation meet the specifications. • After the well has been constructed, grouted, and developed, conduct a short-duration (6 hours) aquifer pumping test. Consultant will work with the Well Contractor to establish a constant pumping rate and to monitor the pumping rates and water levels for six hours on constant pumping. Hydrogeological consultant will collect field water-quality data (pH, turbidity, iron, and hydrogen sulfide) during each test. Observe and assist the Well Contractor in the collection of water quality samples for laboratory analyses. Upon termination of pumping, monitor the recovering water levels for 30 minutes. • Prepare a letter report of each test well site. The report shall include a geologic description of the pilot hole drilling, a summary of the static and pumping water levels, an estimate of aquifer transmissivity based upon analyses of the pumping test and recovery water-level data, and a review of the laboratory results for each test well. Report shall provide projections of the expected well yield for a production well that may be installed at each site. Provide recommendations regarding whether or not a production well is viable at each site. Reports shall be prepared and sealed by an NC Licensed Geologist.
