1) The Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education is seeking an administrator for the HAAPI program who can manage relationships with hearing aid vendors, participating audiologists and applicants as well as oversee the application and hearing aid distribution process. This entity will agree to administer the program within the confines of Indiana Code 16-35-8, including all amendments. 2) The HAAPI administrator will establish and maintain relationships with hearing aid vendors that provide technology to the pediatric population, specifically those hearing instrument models chosen to meet criteria deemed important for pediatric recipients. The administrator will work with the vendors to negotiate hearing aid pricing for the HAAPI program and oversee the ordering and invoice payment processes. Currently, there are five manufacturers from which approved hearing aids are provided through HAAPI: Cochlear, Oticon, Oticon Medical, Phonak, and Resound. In the future, there may be additional manufacturers which with the administrator would maintain relationships if additional hearing aids are approved. 3) The HAAPI administrator will also maintain relationships with HAAPI participating audiologists: keeping them informed of processes and procedures, communicating effectively in regard to general inquiries in addition to application processes of individual applicants who are patients of the individual audiologists, and providing dispensing fees in a timely manner.
