DFSS seeks qualified respondents to implement a new citywide community-based, upstream prevention model – individual mentoring for youth and young adults ages 10-21. The goal is to provide personal support and develop opportunities that foster strong growth and well-being for youth. In the long term, individual mentoring is expected to foster a positive relationship with a caring adult, enhance social capital, promote a sense of safety, and inform decision-making. Eligible applicants must have strong experience in administering a community-based mentoring program focused on youth safety, positive youth development, and active engagement with guardians. By matching youth with trained mentors in a personalized, community-rooted structure, the program helps build confidence, foster connections, and cultivate a stronger sense of agency. Mentoring relationships focus on personal growth and expanding access to enriching opportunities, laying a foundation for healthier choices and long-term success, ultimately promoting overall well-being. In addition to individual mentoring sessions, youth will be allowed to engage in group activities quarterly to build social skills, encourage peer-to-peer support, and celebrate the youth’s milestones.
