1.2.1.1. Review and evaluate a PBM license application for compliance with Alabama PBM Law, Ala. Code §§ 27-45A-1 et seq.; Alabama Insurance Regulation, Chapter 482- 1-164; and other Alabama Department of Insurance issued instructions or procedures. 1.2.1.2 Evaluate the compliance of PBMs with Alabama PBM Law, Ala. Code §§ 27-45A-1 et seq., and other applicable statutes by reviewing the PBM’s claims handling, payment practices, PBM licensing compliance, and compliance with all other provisions of Alabama PBM law, rules, and regulations. 1.2.1.3. Conduct limited scope examinations of PBMs to review their market conduct in relation to the statutory requirements applicable to PBMs operating in the state of Alabama. 1.2.1.4. Assist the DOI in developing proper procedures to be followed in the regulation of PBMs, to include issuing and renewing licenses of PBMs. 1.2.1.5. Conduct audits of PBMs as may be necessary to investigate complaints against PBMs.
