TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS-RAINBOW TROUT Fish must be healthy and in good condition as determined at time of delivery. Fish displaying questionable health, size or conditions may cause rejection of the shipment. Size acceptability will be determined at time of delivery by random length samples. Size acceptability will be determined by random length and weight samples at time of delivery. Should an excessive number of fish smaller than the stated size range occur as shown by sampling, a percentage will be applied and deducted from the total load. Should the percentage exceed 5% of the total shipment, the load may be rejected. All fish are to be delivered F.O.B. to Lake Shawnee, Topeka, Kansas, from hatcheries. Fish are to be put in the Lake following examination. This bid is for a three year period starting in the spring of 2026 and ending with the fall of 2028 delivery. The selected vendor may extend for up to two years upon negotiation. 7,000 lbs., total, Trout - Minimum 11 inches in length with at least 300 fish weighing in excess of four (4) pounds each. FIRST DELIVERY: The first delivery will consist of 3,500 lbs. of rainbow trout and will be made midJanuary at 10:00 A.M. each year of the contract. SECOND DELIVERY: The second delivery will consist of 3,500 lbs. of rainbow trout and will be made late November at 10:00 A.M. each year of the contract. All fish must be a minimum of 11 inches (snout to tail). Fish may be larger, but smaller fish will not be accepted. Although a minimum length is specified it is understood that some smaller fish may inadvertently be loaded. Shawnee County Parks and Recreation reserves the right to conduct random length and weight samples. Should the percentage of fish not meeting the minimum size exceed 5% of the total load, the load will be rejected. Origin and production of fish must be from disease free hatchery facilities as certified by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
