The Town of Colchester is soliciting sealed bids from qualified contractors for the structural rehabilitation of the Colchester Youth Center located at 40 Norwich Ave Colchester, CT 06415. These repairs are the result of a structural investigation that took place in the fall of 2024. This structural investigation has been attached to this RFP as ATTACHMENT A for reference. The structural repair scope of work consists of but is not limited to the following items: Crawlspace: • Remove/dispose of existing abandoned central air handling unit and ducting • Remove/dispose and replacement of existing Lally columns including all temporary support • Remove/dispose and replacement of a rotted sill and blocking on the east side of building including all temporary support • Installation of CMU support piers • Installation of additional 2x6 joists • Remove/dispose and replacement of insulation • Acid wash, point & patch, and parge existing fieldstone foundation; First Floor: • Installation of new header beams and columns including all temporary support and wall demo/disposal and restoration • Sister existing header beam with LVL • Remove/dispose of existing columns • Installation of additional 2x6 joists • Installation of additional 2x8 joists; Second Floor: • Installation of new header beams and columns including all temporary support and wall demo/disposal and restoration • Installation of stairs leading to 3rd floor (1hr fire rated) • Sister existing header beam with LVL • Remove/dispose of existing columns • Installation of additional 2x6 joists...
