The City of League City is seeking qualified proposers for Sales/Use Tax Compliance Review. This service is designed to assist the City in enhancing its sales/use tax revenues by detecting, documenting, and correcting sales/use tax errors thereby producing previously unrealized revenue for the City. Project Initiation & Coordination • The consultant will meet with the client’s designated staff to review service objectives, scope, procedures, coordination of effort, work plan, schedule, public relations, and logistical matters. • The consultant will establish an appropriate liaison with the client to ensure open communication and smooth coordination. • The consultant will define logical checkpoints with the client for reviewing progress throughout the project. Compliance Review Activities • The consultant will conduct a review of the client’s businesses’ sales/use tax remittances to ensure proper application of local sales/use tax law. • The consultant will identify compliance issues, both past and prospective, that may impact the client’s revenues. • The consultant will assist businesses, as necessary, in preparing and filing amended returns and/or reallocation requests with the Comptroller’s office to achieve compliance. • The consultant will provide documentation to the Comptroller’s office, when appropriate, to request assistance in gaining compliance from taxpayers.
