The proposed project generally includes the expansion of the Bryson City wastewater treatment plant from 0.6 MGD to 0.9 MGD to include replacement of headworks consisting of dual mechanical bar screens each rated for 2.7 MGD at peak hourly flow, an influent pump station (IPS) consisting of three (3) 940 GPM pumps and a 400 kW emergency generator; installation of four (4) 210,000 gallons basin sequence batch reactor (SBR) with fine bubble diffusers and decanters with VFDs, four (4) 110 GPM WAS pumps with VFDs and three (3) 470 CFM blowers with VFDs, a 2.7 MGD ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system with three banks in series and an electrical building; conversion of two (2) package wastewater treatment plants to aerated sludge holding tanks, installation of two 100 GPM digested sludge WAS pumps; alternate bid option for the replacement of existing belt filter press with a 467 dry lb/hr screw press with a 225 gallon flocculation tank and a 5 GPH polymer metering pump with VFD; removal and replacement of pavement, roadways, driveways and curbs, sedimentation and erosion-control devices, piping, controls, electrical, valves, vaults, and associated appurtenances.
