2.1 The Judicial Council seeks the services of one (1) or more attorney consultants, with exemplary Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Korean, or Vietnamese speaking and writing skills, to review the accuracy and completeness of materials translated from English, including but not limited to: court forms, documents, correspondence, posters, brochures, and other informative materials, web content, and software application text (including but not limited to Drupal). As applicable, the attorney consultant will also make recommendations regarding revisions of the said material. 2.1.1 Please be advised that the attorney consultant will be an independent contractor to the Judicial Council. No employer-employee, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship will exist between the attorney consultant and the Judicial Council or any other JBE. The attorney consultant will have no authority to bind or incur any obligation on behalf of the Judicial Council or any other JBE. The translation review will encompass legal and linguistic components. The legal review will consist of the following: 2.2.1 Ensuring that all legal concepts have been accurately communicated, and no meaning has been lost or altered in the translation. This may involve consultation with the original author of the document, which may be communicated through Judicial Council staff (“JC staff”). Ensuring that the translation of legal and court terminology is consistent with the Judicial Council’s Spanish glossary of terms and with existing terms on the Judicial Council’s Self-Help w ebsite. Developing a consistent glossary of translated legal and court terminology in Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese for the Judicial Council. Communicating with JC staff regarding any proposed changes to existing terminology in the Judicial Council’s glossaries or existing web content. The linguistic review will consist of the following: Ensuring that form numbers, titles, captions, headers, and footers display appropriately in the documents. Ensuring that all translated form titles in the translated document match existing form titles. Ensuring that the register, tone, and level of formality of the original English is preserved in the translation. Ensuring that the formatting of the translated document matches the formatting of the English language document. 2.3.5 Proofreading for any grammatical, syntax, typographical, spelling, or other errors.
