In the event of a cyber security breach impacting a Connecticut-chartered financial institution, Connecticut-licensed person or entity, or securities registrant, the Department’s primary objective is to maintain public confidence by taking immediate action to safeguard depositor and customer funds and all nonpublic personal identifying information. The Department also works to ensure efficient disclosure of the cyber security event to all affected customers. The Department does this by engaging in an open line of communication with the affected institution to determine the scope and extent of the breach. The scope of services to be rendered is assisting the Commissioner and the Department in investigating the cause of the breach, determining the information compromised, communicating with the institution’s customers and safeguarding all funds and information exposed in such breach.
