1) Each marker shall be 7” x 7” x 8” granite. Nominal industry standard granite depths are acceptable. Slight variations are permissible provided the final product is visually consistent. 2) Markers shall have a steeled top finish. 3) The SAR insignia shall be cut into the stone and left unpainted. Equivalent methods providing durable contrast (such as shallow relief with darkening treatment or bronze inlay) may be proposed for approval.) 4) Sides of the marker shall remain rough. Markers must be installed flush with the ground surface, centered at the front of each grave, and aligned in accordance with recognized military memorial standards. 5) Granite color shall allow the insignia to be clearly visible (e.g., medium gray Barre, as shown in Attachment D). The final color shall be selected in consultation with the Town.
