The needs assessment will examine key topics and evaluate trade offs based on shared values aligned with the Planning Department’s goals of fostering resilient, affordable, and equitable growth in Boston. Objectives include: • Growing the City to 800,000 residents while mitigating displacement • Growing the population of school aged children • Increasing housing affordability • Balancing access to city services • Improving/increasing accessible open space • Fostering economic growth by supporting local businesses & attracting new enterprises • Encouraging transportation modeshift and improving overall mobility • Implementing strategies to reduce carbon emissions to mitigate the impacts of climate change for a sustainable & resilient future
