GENERAL VESSEL REQUIREMENTS • Aluminum construction • Catamaran design • USCG Subchapter T inspected passenger vessel for ferry service on lakes, bays, and sounds with a maximum of 150 passengers, 3 crew and effects, and 7.5 long tons (LT) of cargo. • Satisfy all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations for the areas of operation and the ports-of-call. • Vessel designed and constructed for a 25-year service life. • Ability to transit 5.2 nautical miles between ferry terminals, fully loaded with passengers and cargo, in all operable weather and current conditions, in less than 30 minutes. • Top speed at Design Load shall be 18 knots minimum. • Diesel Generator capable of providing power for all vessel hotel loads. 070.3 PRINCIPAL CHARACTERISTIC REQUIREMENTS • The preferred maximum overall length is 70ft. • The preferred overall breadth is no greater than 24.0ft. • The vessel shall have a full load draft no deeper than 5.0ft. • The vessel's freeboard, measured at the passenger loading gates, shall be no more than two inches above or below the level of the floating dock surface at either terminal. This shall be true for the following operational loading conditions: o Lightest load: No passengers or cargo onboard, and fuel tanks at half capacity. o Heaviest load: Full complement of passengers and their effects onboard, no cargo, fuel tanks at full capacity. • Trim and heel shall be minimized.
